Elon Musk has said the European Union should be ‘abolished’ for issuing his social media platform X with a fine of 140 million dollars. But the European Commission says the fine is a response to several violations of its Digital Services Act. It is the first ever fine issued under this landmark legislation that aspires to keep Europeans safe online. For more on this story Maria Tadeo, Euronews’ EU editor, will join us on set.
But this is not the first time the European Union and Elon Musk find themselves in the online boxing ring. Our reporter Jakob Janas has this refresher.
We will be joined by Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the exiled opposition leader of the Belarusian democratic movement who emerged after challenging Belarus’ authoritarian leader Alexander Lukashenko in the 2020 presidential election. But meanwhile this Monday in Brussels, EU justice ministers from all across the 27 EU countries,are gathering for talks on the EU migration pact – that was agreed on years ago and still needs to be implemented gradually. Their gathering takes place after reports came from Crete this weekend that 17 people lost their lives trying to cross the Mediterranean sea. Aida Sanchez reports.
