Sutton Foster has been Hugh Jackman‘s rock as the actor navigates his divorce from Deborra-Lee Furness, a source tells Us Weekly exclusively.

“He is still with Sutton, and they are trying to navigate this delicately,” the insider shares. “She has been very supportive.”

Us confirmed in November 2024 that Jackman and Foster, who costarred in the 2022 Broadway revival of The Music Man, had started dating while he was still married to Furness.

The Australian actress, 69, filed for divorce from the Marvel star, 56, last week before releasing a statement about the “breakdown” of their 29-year marriage and the “traumatic journey of betrayal.”

“I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose,” she told the Daily Mail.

“It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom,” Furness continued.

As the drama continues to unfold publicly, Jackman has been “leaning on close friends and focusing more on work to get him through it,” according to the source.

“It’s hard to unravel 30 years of a relationship, so he is trying to handle it with as much dignity as possible,” the insider tells Us. “He wants to respect Deborra-Lee and not intentionally hurt her.”

The source adds that Jackman is “heartbroken” that Furness is “feeling this way and hopes time will heal wounds.”

Us Weekly has reached out to reps for Foster and Jackman for comment.

An insider previously told Us that Furness’ statement about “betrayal” had taken her estranged husband “by surprise because she wasn’t very direct with who she was speaking about but was alluding to Hugh, and that added emotional weight to it.”

The source described Jackman and Furness’ current relationship as “complicated” and “strained” because they “see things differently in terms of how things came to an end for them.”

Although Us reported last year that the Greatest Showman star’s romance with Foster, 50, was “the reason” for his divorce, the insider insisted on Friday, May 30, that Jackman and Furness had already been “separated” when he moved on with the Younger alum.

That said, Furness “hoped they would get back together,” per the source.

The now-estranged spouses, who wed in 1996, share two children: 25-year-old son Oscar and 19-year-old daughter Ava.
