Eiza González has enjoyed a front-row seat as her close friend Margot Robbie steps into motherhood.
“I do love her and we’re friends, but I look up to her,” González, 36, said on the Friday, May 15, episode of the “In Your Dreams” podcast. “I mean, she’s someone [who] is an incredible role model. She is a mother, she is a producer, creator, artist. Being a mother, period, is really demanding, and she’s always put together.”
Robbie, 35, and husband Tom Ackerley welcomed their first child, a son, in late 2024.
“It’s like, [when] you try to explain to someone who has kids, you don’t need to because they get it, and if they don’t, it’s probably just really boring to hear,” the Wuthering Heights actress gushed of motherhood during an August 2025 interview with Entertainment Tonight. “So, it’s kind of like, ‘It’s the best,’ you know?”
Robbie and Ackerley, 35, have since kept much of their home life private, including the name of their little one.
As for González, she is in awe how Robbie has seamlessly balanced parenthood and her thriving Hollywood career.
“She has such a positive spirit,” González added to podcast host Owen Thiele. “Her energy is like an aura of a star, [a] bright light. She’s just energy, and I’m just like, ‘I will never be that.’ … I look at [Margot] like she’s a unicorn.”
Robbie and Ackerley, who are now producing partners, met on the set of 2013’s Suite Française.
“We were friends for so long,” Robbie told Vogue in 2016. “I was always in love with him, but I thought, ‘Oh, he would never love me back. Don’t make it weird, Margot. Don’t be stupid and tell him that you like him.’ And then it happened, and I was like, ‘Of course, we’re together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before.’”
Later that year, Robbie and Ackerley tied the knot in a private ceremony held in the actress’ native Australia. After their romantic nuptials, the couple had hopes to eventually expand their family.
“Three days ago, my husband stopped by a dog shelter on the way back from the airport and we now have a pit bull puppy,” Robbie told PORTER magazine in 2018. “We already have a 2-year-old who still acts like a puppy. I love him, but he’s a handful and for the last three days, I haven’t slept. If I’m looking into my future 30 years from now, I want to see a big Christmas dinner with tons of kids there, but definitely not at the moment. That’s 100 percent certain.”
