Horror as police pursuit of a truck ends in massive crash with nine rushed to San Francisco hospital

A police pursuit in San Francisco ended in a major crash Sunday evening, leaving nine people injured after a fleeing pickup truck slammed into an occupied vehicle near South Van Ness Avenue and 14th Street.

The incident began shortly after 8:00 p.m. when San Francisco police officers spotted the pickup driving erratically near Guerrero and 19th streets.

When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over and sped off recklessly, nearly hitting a pursuing patrol car.

The pursuit ended abruptly when the fleeing truck broadsided another vehicle carrying four people. The impact sent the second car spinning into a fire hydrant and a nearby car dealership, reported ABC7.

San Francisco Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, where nine people across both vehicles required medical evaluation.

Two individuals suffered critical injuries, and six others were treated for minor to moderate injuries. A ninth person was evaluated by paramedics but declined hospital transport.

Officers detained all five occupants of the pickup truck, including the driver, at the scene.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of those taken into custody, and criminal charges remain pending as the investigation continues.
