Marshals has brought back some Yellowstone stars — and now another alum revealed whether there is a chance they could return to the Taylor Sheridan show.
“I loved working on Yellowstone. I loved playing Steve Hendon,” James Jordan exclusively told Us while promoting season 3 of another Sheridan series, Lioness. “I loved playing that guy.”
Jordan pointed out Steve’s connection to Kayce (Luke Grimes), adding, “He became Kayce’s right hand man. And Luke Grimes and I are really good friends, we chat on the phone every couple of weeks.”
He continued, “It’s funny because I’ve talked to Luke. I said, ‘Man, I’d love to come on Marshals.’ And he goes, ‘You never know, maybe.’ So I’m always open to it. Wherever the boss sends me, I’ll go.”
Jordan is also due to reprise the role of Dale in season 3 of Landman.
“I’ve only gotten one [script]. [Creator] Taylor [Sheridan] is in the thick of it as we speak. He’s writing season 3 as we speak,” Jordan teased. “All I’ll tell you is it’s going to be a heck of a ride.”
After reading the script, Jordan hinted to Us that there won’t be a time jump.
“We pick up where we left off and I’m just as excited as you are to see where this story goes. We’re going to get to work,” he explained. “We start work here in about three weeks and we’re going to pump out a great new season for folks.”
Jordan also speculated on a possible return.
“The way they edit nowadays, the turnaround is so quick. We might be on the air before the end of the year. I certainly hope so,” he shared. “That little holiday window that we’ve had the last two seasons around Thanksgiving through the end of the year, I think that’s just such a perfect window for Landman.”
He added, “Hopefully we’ll get back to work sooner than later and get the story back out for folks because we love telling it and we love that people are showing up, man. It’s such a riot.”
For now, Jordan is focused on the third season of Lioness. Created by Sheridan, the hit Paramount+ spy thriller follows the leader of a CIA team that enlists female operatives — known as Lionesses — to go undercover in the war on terror.
The first two seasons followed Joe (Zoe Saldaña) as she recruited Cruz (Laysla De Oliveira) and Josie (Genesis Rodriguez) to go undercover. A season 2 mission put the team at risk that nearly ended in a group sacrifice.
Coming off the difficult mission that resulted in several injuries, Joe returned to D.C. and reunited with her husband, Neal (Dave Annable). Season 3 will follow Joe after she gets kidnapped — and her coworkers must save her before it is too late.
“I love to go to work on Taylor’s shows and bring these characters to life. He’s done a lot of the heavy lifting for you because what’s on the page is pretty much all you need to know. The audience can fill in a lot of the blanks too with their imagination,” Jordan said. “That emotional investment that they get in these characters forces them to lean in a little closer. But I can’t pick a favorite.”
The actor continued, “What’s interesting about Taylor is he explores frontiers — both metaphorically and literally. right? It’s always a joy to explore the frontier because when you do explore a frontier, you’re exploring the unknown and that can be daunting. That can be scary. It’s a joy to tell these stories though. I love playing Two Cups. I love playing Dale. I can’t pick a favorite. They’re so vastly different. But as long as we trust in Taylor and his storytelling and his imagination, we know it’s going to be a great ride.”
