Influencer turned boxing star Logan Paul has listed his storied, psychedelic California property for just under $3 million dollars, three times the price he paid for it.
Paul purchased the remote Mountain Center, CA, retreat known as the “LSD ranch,” in 2019 for $1 million, a half century after counterculture icon Timothy Leary used it as his heady, hippie headquarters.
An ex-Harvard professor turned LSD-evangelizing high priest of the late 1960s, Leary coined the mantra, “Turn on, tune in, drop out.”
Leary, who President Richard Nixon once described as “the most dangerous man in America,” is alleged to have produced the pure and potent LSD strain “Orange Sunshine” whilst at the ranch which he occupied with his devotees, the Brotherhood of Eternal Love.
The property’s original listing made no secret of the ranch’s storied past.
“With more hippies, as they were referred to by the locals, joining the Brotherhood, this often unpredictable group would later operate vegetarian soup kitchens, oppose the Vietnam War and preach to others that the regular use of LSD would create a more sensitive human race,” read the listing, noting that the compound grew to include 30 members, a ranch house, several outbuildings and teepees.
In 1972, federal agents raided the compound, where they reportedly found Leary making said sunshine under the canvas of one of those fabled teepees.
Far out and in deep.
At present, the property is registered to a trust named for Paul and his brother Jake and has undergone serious upgrades since the pair acquired it.
The listing is held by Bill Church of So Cal Coast Real Estate who described the rebranded Fobes Ranch as “a truly extraordinary piece of California mountain history” and the ultimate “off-grid retreat.”
When Paul purchased the property the primary residence had two bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms.
However, the new listing reveals that the residence now boasts four bedrooms.
To boot, the listing notes that Paul is offering the property, with “most of the furnishings, ranch vehicles and equipment.”
In addition to the primary residence, the 78-acre spread includes a caretaker’s home, a bunkhouse, a horse barn, green house, gymnasium, garages and sheds, and a 300-yard shooting range.
“For the outdoor enthusiast, the possibilities are endless-horseback riding, dirt bike riding, four-wheeling, hiking, wildlife watching, ranching, or simply enjoying the peace and solitude of your own private mountain retreat,” the listing continues.
The home is equipped with solar power, batteries, a propane backup tank, and a “gravity-fed water system.”
Though the Logan brothers did not utilize the property as a working ranch, it is outfitted to support the endeavor.
“The property features expansive, level acreage suitable for cattle grazing, a seasonally full pond, and miles of four-wheel-drive trails winding throughout the ranch,” the listing notes.
The remoteness of the Fobes Ranch is underscored in the listing: “Reached by a secluded four-mile drive from Highway 74, with no other residences along the way, Fobes Ranch is surrounded by the San Bernardino National Forest.”
Idyllwild, the closest town is roughly 25 minutes by car while the property is an hour from the Palm Springs Airport.
Since 2021, Paul has continued to pull up stakes in California and cement himself as a permanent fixture, and resident in Puerto Rico citing the commonwealth’s boxing training camps and favorable taxes as the reason for his retreat.
“I went out there to scout it, and I fell in love with it,” Paul said about Puerto Rico in an episode of his “imPaulsive” podcast. “Obviously, I’m impulsive, and I trust my gut, my instincts. I feel like it’s the closing of a chapter and the opening of a new one.”
