A man has been dragged from a burning car in Sydney’s west, before allegedly assaulting a police officer after a series of crashes.
The alleged trail of destruction, which ended with the vehicle engulfed in flames, began with a crash into another car on Hassall Street, Wetherill Park.
The car drove on, allegedly crashing again on nearby Maugham Crescent, before hitting a parked car on the same street and catching fire about 11.20pm on Sunday.
Bystanders pulled the 35-year-old man from the burning vehicle. Police attending the scene were told of the previous crashes, while Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze.
The man allegedly did not stop after either of the earlier crashes to exchange details with the other drivers.
He was also allegedly unable to supply a breath test, NSW Police said in a statement.
There were no reports of any injuries. The 35-year-old was arrested and taken to Cabramatta Police Station where inquiries are continuing on Monday morning.
