When it comes to parenting a newborn, Chicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson and soccer star Mallory Swanson make one winning team.
“Being able to do it together is truly special. We’ve obviously always talked about having a family, and now we have one,” Dansby, 32, exclusively shared with Us Weekly while partnering with Buffalo Wild Wings and Pepsi. “It’s just so cool. It’s so wild seeing a little mini Mal, you know?”
In November 2025, Dansby and Mallory’s lives changed forever when they welcomed a baby girl named Josie James Swanson.
Since their daughter’s arrival, the couple says their relationship has grown even stronger as they navigate sleepless nights, diaper changes, baby milestones and unpredictable schedules.
“I think that having a baby is something so beautiful, and it’s literally the best thing ever because you get to do it with your partner and you get to see the changes that happen,” Mallory, 28, shared with Us. “Just being able to share those moments together has been fun.”
Although the couple admit their work commitments keep their schedules packed — Dansby and the Chicago Cubs play 162 games in a single season, while Mallory is a member of the United States Women’s National Team for soccer — their quality time is treasured.
During Father’s Day weekend, a baseball rainout allowed Dansby to celebrate with his wife and daughter longer than expected.
“I think the biggest thing for us is just being intentional about the time that we do get together and enjoying it and being grateful for it,” Dansby told Us. “I think we do a pretty good job of it.”
Along the way, the pair — who founded the Purpose and Calling Foundation to help empower and support the well-being of children — rely on their faith to keep their family unit strong and united.
“All the blessings that we have is due to God,” Dansby shared. “Even just the miracle that Josie is. Just bringing new life into this world. If you didn’t believe in God before, just watch when you have a kid what it does to you. … It shows up just in the constants of us praying together before bed, us praying over Josie, just us being intentional about trying to follow and be obedient to what we feel like God’s called us to do.”
Mallory added, “I know, for me — and I’m pretty sure for Dansby too — I think without our faith, I don’t know where we would be. It’s very, very important to us.”
This summer, both Dansby and Mallory are teaming up with Buffalo Wild Wings and Pepsi with the Pick 6 Meal for Two. Starting at $19.99, the customizable, shareable meal includes two entrées, two sides and two Pepsi beverages, making it easy for fans to enjoy great food and company for all sporting events.
“Growing up, I would go to Buffalo Wild Wings with my soccer team literally all the time,” Mallory recalled. “Dansby and I watch sports in our house all the time, and so I think for us, it was such a great opportunity to partner with them. You can go to Buffalo Wild Wings, watch games, get a Pick 6 meal for Two and it just seemed like such a great opportunity and deal.”
