Reacher star Alan Ritchson filed for divorce from his wife of 20 years, Catherine Ritchson, months before publicly announcing their separation.

Alan, 43, filed to dissolve the pair’s marriage on December 1, 2025, per court records viewed by Us. (TMZ was first to report the news.)

Alan and Cat, 37, revealed nearly nine months later that they had called it quits.

“After 20 years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way,” the now-exes wrote in a joint statement shared via Instagram on Saturday, September 12. “We grew up together, we built a life and a family together.”

They continued, “We are raising three incredible boys, who will always be the center of our world. Nothing can diminish what these years have meant to us — or the love and respect we will always share. The best gift we can give one another — and our boys — right now is friendship, grace and commitment to becoming the strongest coparents we can be.”

The actor and Catherine further stressed that they hoped to “give each other room to grow into the people [they were] becoming.”

“Change is hard enough without the whole world weighing in,” the pair added in her Saturday statement. “We hope, especially for the sake of our boys, that you will allow our family to move through this chapter with privacy and compassion. Thank you for supporting us as we continue making the health and happiness of our family our priority.”

Days earlier, Catherine documented a “solo trip” via Instagram and shared cryptic “statements that resonate.”

“It is what it is, and it ain’t nothin’ else,” Catherine reposted a 1965 quote attributed to Flavin on Thursday, September 10. “One might not think of light as a matter of fact, but I do. And it is, as I said, as plain and open and direct an art as you will ever find.”

While Catherine did not explain why the statement felt relevant, she and Alan have continued to amicably coparent their three sons.

“Was so fun to support Dad as a family yesterday for his appearance on @latenightseth,” Catherine wrote via Instagram in July, sharing behind-the-scenes pics with Alan and their kids. “Seth couldn’t have been more friendly and welcoming!”

The Hunger Games actor and Catherine were high school sweethearts, first meeting in a ballet class as teenagers.

“After the millionth time of us sitting next to each other, inches away, tying our shoes — so now it’s super awkward — I was like, ‘So I heard you ice skate,’” Alan told Men’s Health in February 2024. “She was like the sweetest thing in the world.”

Alan and Catherine briefly separated after one year together before reconciling, eventually getting married in 2006.
