Tory Lanez is putting a price on his suffering — at $1 million per stab wound — in a new bombshell lawsuit filed against the California Department of Corrections.

The musician, now locked up at California Men’s Colony in San Luis Obispo for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, claims prison officials failed to protect him when he was stabbed 16 times by inmate Santino Casio using a homemade shank in May 2025 at CCI Tehachapi.

Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, suffered stab wounds to his back, torso, head and face — as well as two collapsed lungs and permanent scarring — according to a lawsuit obtained by The California Post.

“The choice to house Casio with Peterson was known or should have been a known danger. Casio is currently serving a life sentence for second-degree murder, and attempted first-degree murder, for the killing of his 13-year-old pregnant runaway “girlfriend” while he was on parole,” the documents read.

Lanez believes he was a target given his celebrity status, and claims guards were not immediately present when the attack first happened, according to the lawsuit.

“There were not any flash grenades, smoke bombs, or rubber ammunition expelled to stop Casio from stabbing Peterson repeatedly,” the lawsuit states.

Lanez says when he was fighting for his life in a local hospital after the attack guards from the prison seized his song books which contained unpublished lyrics with “substantial commercial value.”

Lanez is asking for $100 million in damages in the lawsuit, including $1 million per stab wound.

“It is reasonable to value his damages, considering his celebrity status and earning potential, at $1 million per stab wound, $10 million due to facial scarring leading to career harm, $25 million for pain and suffering along with the property loss of his song books,” the documents state.

Lanez legal team also says he suffered emotional trauma, damage to his reputation and an ongoing safety risk … all adding to the damages. There has not yet been a finding of liability.

The singer is currently serving a ten year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot after an argument in 2020. The pair were partying at Kylie Jenner’s home before being chauffeured in an SUV with a friend.

At one point, Megan got out of the SUV and was shot in the foot as she stood on the sidewalk. Lanez has maintained his innocence.

Lanez was found guilty of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. He was sentenced in 2023.

The California Department of Corrections did not respond to a request for comment.
