A desperate search is under way for a young mum who vanished from her home west of Brisbane.

Jana Armstrong, 30, was last seen at her home in Newtown, Toowoomba, on Tuesday afternoon.

Her four-month-old son was found at the Newtown property, and is now with family members.

Police have searched the Black Gully Reserve area and a further area of interest in Tabletop Drive, Rangeville, but have not found any items of interest.

There is no person of interest at this stage, Collins said.

“We are treating it [as] very alarming that a 30-year-old female with a four-month-old child disappears overnight and her car’s left the way in which it was,” he said.

“We hope that Jana’s still alive, but we have serious concerns about her welfare at this point in time.”

Police were investigating the movements of Armstrong’s car, which has a Queensland registration of 273ZHQ, on Tuesday.

It was believed to have travelled along Tabletop Drive in Rangeville between 9pm and 10pm on Tuesday, then along Preston Road in Preston about 10pm, along Charker Street in Darling Heights about 10.15pm, and along Gordon Avenue in Newtown between 3am and 5am on Wednesday morning.

Collins said police were unsure if Armstrong was driving the vehicle during this time, and this was part of why they were seeking CCTV.

Anyone who has information, including CCTV footage or dashcam vision of the vehicle, was urged to contact police.

Armstrong is Caucasian and approximately 165 centimetres tall, with an average build, blue eyes, and brown hair.

She was last seen wearing a green and white striped Country Road shirt, T-shirt, blue jeans and a pair of thongs.
