Long Beach is set to get 18 speed cameras spread across the city as its efforts to harry drivers into slowing down intensify.

Cameras will be installed at 18 different spots, including Long Beach Boulevard and Artesia Boulevard.

Residents should expect tickets if they speed by 11 mph or more, with fines rising as drivers exceed the speed limit.

Like most speed cameras, they will take photos of speeding vehicles’ rear license plates. The fine scale is as follows:

11 to 15 mph over: $50

16 to 25 mph over: $100

26 mph or more over: $200

100 mph or more: $500

But residents will have until at least Dec. 3 before the cameras will start issuing citations…
