MoreWhat sounds like a failed science experiment is actually this summer’s new sugar-rush snack. Finding new ways to decorate food is a cycle on TikTok, and a new radioactive-looking combination of pineapple and Kool-Aid is the newest big trend. Summertime snackers are soaking pineapple “spears” or chunks in a mix of Kool-Aid and sugar in a jar, shaking the ingredients, and then refrigerating the mashup anywhere from two to 24 hours. Sturgeons’ booty calls apparently have a bass beat. Scientists have discovered that the huge, Volkswagen-sized fish have been making thunderous, rumbling sounds while getting it on in the Hudson River, per a raunchy study published in the journal Endangered Species Research. “It’s almost that you feel it more than you hear it,” study co-author Maija Niemistö, of the New York State Water Resources Institute, said in a press release. “You can hear these chirps and squirts and bubbles underwater, but this is a different experience entirely.” The researchers happened upon eardrum-busting cacophony while eavesdropping on the mating habits of the Atlantic sturgeon,…

Most people are getting fibermaxxing wrong — and they don’t even know it. The trend has taken over wellness social media for good reason. Fiber genuinely works. It supports digestion, feeds beneficial gut bacteria, regulates blood sugar, and lowers cholesterol. Plus, most Americans fall well short of the recommended daily intake, so the impulse to eat more of it makes complete sense. But the problem isn’t the goal. It’s the all-or-nothing mindset that turns a legitimately healthy habit into a source of bloating, cramping, and digestive misery. As Heather Butscher, RDN, at University Hospitals Digestive Health Institute puts it: “Fibermaxxing…
