Beauty influencer allegedly loses 140,000 followers after filter glitch reveals true face

Did the digital mask just slip?

A Chinese livestreamer allegedly lost thousands of followers after a beauty filter malfunction revealed her true visage, per social media posts going viral.

However, as of yet, her so-called loss of face — and viewership — has yet to be independently verified.

According to the now viral clips, which have circulated on Threads, TikTok and elsewhere, the unnamed beauty influencer was filming a video when the aesthetic mishap occurred.

In the footage, the content creator can be seen primping for the camera, when all of a sudden her beauty filter comes off, revealing a mature face with a warm complexion.

The virtual varnish is restored a few seconds later, revealing a small, pale countenance with perfectly symmetrical features.

By then, the damage had allegedly been done — social media reports claim that lost 140,000 followers following this inadvertent peek behind the online curtain.

Nonetheless, many viewers flocked to the woman’s defense with many claiming they preferred the unfiltered version.

“I think she’s so much more prettier than the filter,” said one fan. “The filter looks lifeless”

“She’s literally so beautiful I can’t, I’m so mad for her lmfao,” said another, decrying the digital facemask.

A third used the moment to rail against allegedly unattainable “East Asia beauty standards.”

While it’s yet unclear whether the woman’s facial fiasco is real, this wouldn’t have been the first time a vlogger was accused of catfishing the public via digital makeover.

In 2019, a Chinese social media star who dubbed herself “Your Highness Qiao Biluo” flabbergasted followers after a mid-stream malfunction revealed that she was a middle-aged woman and not the young bombshell that they believed her to be.

Unfortunately, embellishing one’s image is a cinch in the social media age.

Several years back, social media users denounced TikTok’s new “Bold Glamour” artificial intelligence filter, claiming that it was so filtered it should be “illegal.”

“I was happy with the way I looked until I tried this,” said one British influencer. “These filters have to stop.”
