A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after allegedly abducting a teenage girl in Melbourne’s south-east as she walked through the school gates on the last day of term.
Police allege the Wyndham teen approached a 17-year-old girl as she was heading into Keysborough Secondary College on Janine Road in Springvale South at about 8.30am on Friday.
He then forced her into a car and fled the scene, police said, driving her across Melbourne to an address on Jezebel Way in Tarneit.
Special operations group officers were called to the home and arrested the 15-year-old boy at midday. He is expected to be interviewed by detectives from the armed crime squad, but no charges have been laid.
The 17-year-old girl was taken to hospital in a stable condition, according to Ambulance Victoria.
Police believe the parties are “known to one another” and the investigation is ongoing.
A spokesperson from the education department told The Age were aware of the incident at a Springvale South school campus.
“Wellbeing supports are being provided to the family and any others within the school community that may require them,” the spokesperson said.
The department declined to comment on what supports were being offered, nor whether security guards are employed at the campus.
The department directed all further questions about the incident to Victoria Police.
