There are few Brisbane social media users who have not heard of Brooki Bakehouse – the small, but flourishing Fortitude Valley bakery churning out signature giant cookies and other sweet treats.
The woman at the helm is Brooke Bellamy (nee Saward), who is now embroiled in a stoush over plagiarism with Sydney-based online recipe author Nagi Maehashi, founder of RecipeTin Eats.

Bellamy, a former travel writer, opened her Fortitude Valley dessert emporium in May 2022, but attracting customers was a challenge.
Months passed and she decided to start sharing content on TikTok.
The first video Saward filmed, a “day in my life”, ended up going viral with more than 3.2 million views.
Customers arrived the next day, saying they had seen her bakery on TikTok. Lines now snake around the corner.
More pop-up stores and a cookbook followed. Bellamy and her husband welcomed their first child, a daughter, in September last year, on the same day her Brisbane Airport store opened.
