CBS News correspondent Matt Gutman has been accused of sexual harassment.
Former ABC News field producer Samira Said recently filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the TV network, according to court documents obtained by Us. Said, who worked at ABC from 2021 to 2025, claimed she was fired after seeking medical leave and accommodations on multiple occasions following undisclosed health conditions. Said, who said her requests were denied, also alleged that Gutman, 48, made “sexualized” comments to her that contributed to an allegedly hostile work environment.
Neither Gutman, CBS News nor ABC News have publicly addressed Said’s lawsuit. Us has reached out to reps for all three for comment.
Per Said’s lawsuit, the producer claimed that she was “placed on a male-only team” with Gutman and two crew members after she was hired by ABC News.
“While the team waited in a public queue during the assignment, Gutman initiated a discussion rating a female correspondent’s appearance and reducing her professional standing to a numerical score based on her physical attributes,” Said’s filing reads. “The male crew joined in, continuing to assess the woman’s body and looks in Said’s presence. The men attempted to draw Said into the conversation by soliciting her views. Said declined and stated the conversation was inappropriate.”
Said also alleged that she and Gutman once “disagreed about whether the team should leave the work site” during a press day for a film release. The plaintiff claimed that Gutman subsequently made a sexualized insinuation that Said must have planned an after-hours date nearby if she didn’t want to relocate with the team.
“The remark, made audibly to others, demeaned Said and reduced her professional judgment to a sexualized stereotype,” the court docs claim.
Gutman served as ABC News’ chief national correspondent for 15 years before joining CBS News in January as a chief correspondent.
“I am thrilled to be joining CBS, a network with TV news’ most storied past, and most exciting future,” Gutman said in a press release after accepting his new role. “With Bari [Weiss] and Tom [Cibrowski] at the helm, our mission is to tell the most important news stories and bring our audience along with us to places they wouldn’t otherwise be able to go, to give a voice to those who might otherwise not be heard, and to tell it straight.”
Gutman now reports for CBS Mornings, CBS Evening News, 48 Hours and 60 Minutes.
