The owner, Ingrid Dimock, previously announced that she had removed Harvey from the business after Nine News first exposed his history in November.

She claimed at the time she was “just trying to salvage” her business and assure families it was safe.

Dimock was in a relationship with Harvey for almost two years.

On Sunday, Assistant Commissioner Rhys Wildman said police investigations into the case were continuing.

“Obviously, some new information came to light during the week. Police are now investigating the particular incident in question,” he said.

“The venue is currently closed, and we’re aware that there was a peaceful protest there this morning of about 25 people.

“Police have been made aware, and police are actually on site there, but there are no issues, and we’re certainly very comfortable with the protesters and what they’re trying to do today, and we’ll support them in peaceful protest, as we do hundreds of times [elsewhere] every year.”

Wildman said he believed the closure was the decision of City Chicks management. He would not elaborate on whether police had spoken to Dimock.

When A Current Affair approached Harvey this week in the cafe, he claimed he had been cleared by police and was “not doing anything wrong”.

“I’ve had the police out here. They know that I’m here. They don’t have a problem with me being here. Why do you?” Harvey said.

He told A Current Affair there was more to his criminal convictions, and he always maintained his innocence. He said he was not a sick individual, and said, “you don’t know all of my history of everything that happened”.

When asked about Harvey on Sunday, Police Minister Dan Purdie said being a parent himself, he found the footage of him concerning.

He said if there needed to be tougher laws, the government would implement them. Earlier this week, shadow attorney-general Meaghan Scanlon said it was beyond comprehension that someone convicted of such offences could be allowed to work with children.

On Friday afternoon, the business posted that the cafe and farm walk were currently closed, but the chicken shop remained open.
