Need a 30-pack of toilet paper? Well, 2027 might be your year.
Costco revealed it will open another 33 warehouses in fiscal 2027 — bringing the warehouse giant closer to its goal of 30 net new locations a year. CEO Ron Vachris announced the new spots in its latest earnings call, and the retailer expects to shell out about $7.5 billion for the new locations.
Vachris said the company ended its fiscal 2026 with 939 warehouses — spending $6.4 billion on capital projects just for this year alone.
It’s not clear where or when the 19 new locations will open or when construction will begin, as Costco says on its media requests page, “We cannot comment on locations that will be opening more than three months from today.”
The news comes just weeks after the Costco website added 14 new locations under its “coming soon” section. Those new stores will start slinging its bulk goods as each new location will strategically open starting in October through November.
The October locations will be in Lee’s Summit, Missouri; The Colony, Texas; Amherst, New York; Lawrence, Kansas, and Camarillo, California.
November brings nine additional warehouses, including four in Canada — Northeast Edmonton and Lloydminster in Alberta and East Windsor and Wasaga Beach in Ontario. The US stores will be in South Meridian, Idaho; Vallejo, California; Chandler, Arizona; Newport News, Virginia, and Franklin, Wisconsin.
Some of the new stores will be relocating within the same city.
For example, the warehouse set to open soon in Newport News is replacing a store that has been in the city since 1988, after Costco purchased a 32-acre property a few blocks from its current warehouse, aiming to build a 163,000 square-foot retail warehouse and fuel station.
While you’re waiting, you can check out the latest locations, which opened up back in July and August across nine more states. Shoppers can score a 25-pound bag of jasmine rice in Utah, Florida, New York, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Texas and more.
