And now, you don’t have to if you book a stay at this soon-to-open luxury hotel, as every room and suite has a private balcony overlooking the peaks.
Set to open in early December, The First Cortina by The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts is located on Corso Italia.
The design by Studio Marincola Architects puts the focus on the vistas, with glass panels running through the architecture and a muted palette of Dolomia stone and fir wood.
There are several room and suite categories across the 76-key property, our pick of which would be the Jacuzzi suite view balcony – which, as you might have guessed, has a sunken Jacuzzi in the corner of the room for enjoying the views (as well as a balcony).
What to expect at The First Cortina
Cortina d’Ampezzo is known primarily as a winter sports destination, and The First Cortina boasts a dedicated ski room where you can keep your equipment during your stay. The hotel also offers skis and snowboards to rent, as well as hiking and trekking apparel for the warmer months.
After a long day of skiing or hiking, guests can relax at REVĪVŌ Spa. Spread across two floors, the spa has treatment rooms, a sauna and a traditional hammam, as well as an indoor-outdoor pool.
For those who consider après-ski just as important as the slopes themselves, the hotel’s dining offering is top-notch.
Celeb favourite Zuma will be serving up Japanese dishes for aperitif and dinner, with live music and DJ sets after dark.
Guests will also be able to enjoy Italian gastronomy at Velo, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant serving breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch and dinner.
The nearest airports to The First Cortina are Venice Marco Polo and Treviso, both of which are around a two-hour drive away.
