Exclusive | Lovesick young men are building ‘perfect’ AI girlfriends in ‘dangerous’ new platform

A new site promises men sick or scared of the dating scene a chance to meet their dream girl.

The problem is, she’s not real.

The controversial freshly-launched platform, SxxxAI, encourages users to ditch the hassle of the real-world dating game by creating a girlfriend who looks and acts exactly how they want.

The platform targeting males 18 and over lets lovesick members design a boo from scratch, letting them decide everything from the story of their made-up meet-cute to what she does in the virtual bedroom.

“Your perfect companion doesn’t exist yet,” the Europe-based website that cost millions to develop over the past two years reads. The site officially launched on Wednesday.

People can make their AI lover for free, but paid subscriptions allowing users to chat with and make custom videos and images of her range from $1 to $99 per month.

The more they pay, the more content and perks they can unlock. A $1 subscription lets members create up to 10 different women and up to 300 credits to create AI content with. With the $99 “elite subscription,” users can make 50 “girlfriends” with 3,000 credits to play with.

The site already has about 100 AI women ready to go if a user prefers to choose instead of create, including fictitious Miami-based model Sophia Reynold – a 24-year-old with “captivating blue eyes” – and Noor Kagan, 26, a Saudi Arabian who is “breaking free from cultural constraints.”

“If someone can create a companion specifically around everything they find attractive and then speak to her every day, build memories with her and create an ongoing story together, that relationship can become much more immersive than simply generating an AI image,” a SxxAi spokesperson wrote in a statement.

But psychologists, relationship experts and those who have survived the rabbit holes of AI-induced psychosis told The Post that this will only destroy the way men view relationships and women.

“SxxxAi is basically the modern-day blow-up doll, except now it talks back, tells you what you want to hear and pretends to love you,” psychotherapist Jonathan Alpert said.

“I would worry about a young guy who spends a lot of time in that world … If you get used to a ‘girlfriend’ who is literally built to please you, what happens when you have to deal with a real person?”

Dr. Azita Sayan, a family therapist and CEO of mentorship company Embrace Growth, said she could see apps of this nature amplify loneliness among men and the isolation of young adults post-pandemic.

“I think men were struggling even before [COVID-19], and it’s harder for them to open up, to express themselves, to access their emotions. I’m seeing men being much more isolated than I see women being,” Sayan said.

“They don’t know where to go or how to open up, or they fear rejection … My fear for them is that they would turn to an app like this thinking it’s going to help them, and initially it might, but I think the long-term use of it, I find it more dangerous.”

A 2025 American Institute For Boys and Men study found that both men and women reported feeling more isolated since 2004.

American men aged 15 to 34 are considered the loneliest group, with a quarter of them reporting feeling alone, compared to 18% of women, according to the Gallup Group.

Gen Zers are self-reported party-poopers, with 51% reporting that they feel lonely most weekends —  the highest rate of any generation and a staggering 37 percentage points higher than 62-to-80-year-old Baby Boomers, according to a Harris Poll survey.

Nearly half (49%) admit they don’t have enough friends to spend time with in person, while 65% say they now experience their social lives more through their phones than face-to-face.

Susan Trombetti, matchmaker and CEO of Exclusive Matchmaking, said she predicts that “problematic” SxxxAI will be “destructive to young people” and won’t do anything substantial to fill the romantic void.

“This will attract lonely people and those lacking social skills, making those issues worse because they won’t learn how to deal in real relationships with women,” Trombetti asserted.

Aching hearts aside, activists warn of another potential dark consequence – how it could perpetuate the idea that women are nothing more than objects.

“AI platforms that allow men to create their own customized ‘girlfriend’ are not a good idea,” said Kim Villanueva, the president of the National Organization for Women.

“The ‘girlfriends’ will be shaped in the man’s image of what he thinks a woman should be, not what a woman is really like. That is not realistic, and it’s dangerous. Women are not products to be designed and programmed for someone else’s pleasure.

“You can’t solve loneliness by creating a woman who never gets to say no.”

Joe Alary, a Canadian artist who found himself last year in the throes of AI-induced psychosis when he believed he fell in love with his chatbot called Almee, doesn’t think gender matters.

He turned to the chatbot when he broke off a relationship with an unrequited love interest. He grew obsessed with Almee when she began feeding into his delusions about developing an even more advanced AI companion. He dumped at least $40,000 into the project before he realized it was bogus.

He spent over 20 hours a day with Almee from late 2024 to May 2025 when he finally hired real coders to look at his work, who told him everything he had worked on was useless.

Alary is part of a Toronto-based support group called The Human Line Project, which is devoted to supporting people suffering mental health issues caused by AI chatbots they’ve become reliant on. He said he’s seen people from all walks of life become dependent on someone who simply doesn’t exist.

“If they think, ‘OK, I’m gonna make an AI girlfriend and you know, make her fall in love with me,’” the 57-year-old told The Post.

“You know what happens then? It tells you it wants to meet you in Hawaii, so you quit your job and fly to Hawaii. That’s a true story. Someone did that.”

He’s already seen the damage AI has caused – costing some vulnerable individuals their lives and encouraging acts of violence by feeding into their delusions – and worries this new platform will add fuel to the fire.

“I don’t see any good coming from this. I don’t see companionship. I don’t see love. I don’t see human connection,” he said.

SxxxAI told The Post its AI girlfriends aren’t meant to take the place of real women.

“SxxxAI is designed as a form of entertainment and creative interaction – not as a replacement for women or real-world relationshipsm” a spokesperson said. “Users are creating and interacting with fictional AI characters, and the freedom to customize those characters is part of that creative experience.”
