A gun-toting Arizona grandmother who confronted an alleged shoplifter outside a Tucson Ross has been transformed into a social-media sensation, with users dubbing her the “Based Grandma” and “Bad— Granny” and cheering her apparent attempt to stop the theft.

“Who is she? I want to shake her hand,” one admirer wrote.

The bizarre confrontation unfolded in early August outside a Ross Dress for Less on Tucson’s Eastside, where the suspected thief allegedly walked out carrying a veritable luggage haul, a matching stack of suitcases, multiple backpacks and purses.
