Jelly Roll is taking a step back from the spotlight following his divorce from Bunnie Xo.
“This has truly been a lifetime experience for me,” the country singer, 41, told the crowd during his concert at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City on July 28, according to Country Now.
“And in a couple of nights, I go to Colorado Springs and do my last show for a year or two. I’m fixing to take some time off and heal. Thank you for the opportunity,” Jelly Roll continued. (The “Save Me” singer performed at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs on Thursday, July 30.)
Though Jelly Roll did not elaborate on what led to his decision, the move comes two months after his split from Bunnie Xo, 46. Us confirmed in June that Jelly Roll had quietly filed for divorce in Tennessee one month earlier. The exes finalized the proceedings in July.
Jelly Roll broke his silence on the split during his tour stop in Saratoga Springs, New York, on June 18.
“Me and my wife are best friends. We will always be best friends. We just got off the phone earlier today,” he said. “Nobody cheated on nobody. … That will be my best friend forever.”
Jelly Roll concluded, “Bunnie, I love you baby. Thank you for those 10 years. They were incredible. Thank you for the next 10 years of friendship and 20 beyond that.”
During a since-deleted episode of her “Dumb Blonde” podcast earlier that day, Bunnie Xo insisted that she and Jelly Roll were still on good terms and even planned to have a baby together. (Bunnie Xo and Jelly Roll have been candid about their IVF and surrogacy journey since 2024.)
“You guys are going to be shocked to hear this, but we’re still having a baby,” she said. “We’re still having a baby together, we’re going to coparent together. I’m so excited to live my life through a child’s eyes, which is why, with this baby journey, I’m not going to let it break me. And I’m not going to detour it. J has been so great about us still having a baby together, and he wants the same thing.”
Bunnie Xo later explained her decision to remove the podcast episode from all platforms.
“I took it down because I realized I just don’t want one of the hardest moments of my life to become a permanent headline,” she shared during her July 10 podcast episode. “I don’t want to live in that, but I also believe that people deserve the space to heal, to evolve and to move forward. … But also, if I’m being real, I don’t want the divorce to become my entire personality. I don’t want to be the poster child for divorce.”
