A two-headed monster in the Dallas Cowboys’ headquarters is not out of the question.
Jerry Jones has built the Cowboys into the multibillion-dollar “America’s Team,” but he’s “open” to having another local legend by his side.
Jones told The Dallas Morning News that he would be “open” to former Dallas Mavericks majority owner Mark Cuban co-owning the team through his private equity firm, Harbinger.
Cuban, too, told the outlet that he was “sure our Harbinger fund would be open” to the idea.
“That’s exactly why if you’re me, you would be open to that is because of the man. I have all the respect in the world for him and I know what he did for the Mavericks and what he’s done for basketball,” Jones told the Dallas Morning News. “He’s in additional to financial boatstreams of your team, you want to associate with the highest quality of [a person] who loves the game and then also at the same time wants to do something about it. Mark leads the way in that.”

NFL owners approved a measure two years ago that allowed private equity firms to purchase between 3% and 10% of a franchise.
Jones’ comments come days after his son, Cowboys chief operating officer Stephen, said the family “wouldn’t rule…out” selling a portion of the team.
“But we’d also be very particular in who we would bring in as a partner in terms of that,” the younger Jones told 105.3 The Fan in Dallas.
Cuban still owns 27% of the Mavs.
The Cowboys’ $13 billion estimated valuation is the largest in all of North American professional sports, according to Forbes.

Cuban sold nearly 75% of his team in December 2023 for a $3.5 billion valuation. His fund also recently purchased a minority stake in MLB’s Athletics, which are set to play in Las Vegas in 2028.
