Kourtney Kardashian has revealed that she quit drinking alcohol nearly three years ago.
“Fancy Friday,” Kourtney, 46, wrote via her Instagram Stories on Friday, January 16, sharing footage of an activation for sister Khloé Kardashian’s Khloud protein popcorn brand. “[I] def told them I haven’t drank alcohol in three years!”
In Kourtney’s footage, a Khloud spokesperson offered her a “pop of luxury” featuring a sample of Khloud’s newest flavor and a gin-inspired mocktail.
“This is a little gin mocktail with Ritual [zero-proof] gin,” the rep explained. “Cheers.”
Kourtney initially stopped drinking alcohol and caffeine when she and her husband, Travis Barker, underwent in vitro fertilization to conceive a baby.
“I did this [Panchakarma] cleanse 10 years ago. I kept telling Travis about this and this is the one thing that we haven’t tried that he’s heard me talk about,” Kourtney said on a 2022 episode of The Kardashians. “I’m on so much estrogen right now, that on top of not having sex with you, or not having caffeine, if my moods take a turn, that’s why.”
She continued, “After the pre-cleanse, we will do a seven-day cleanse, where we will go to her spa every day, and we go for like four hours a day. I’m super grateful that Travis is doing this with me. I don’t think I could do it on my own. I just feel like it’s something we have to do together. We’re making a baby together, we have to be on the same page.”
After Kourtney’s IVF cycles failed, she and Barker, now 50, eventually conceived son Rocky without any medical intervention. (Kourtney and the Blink-182 drummer each have three children from past relationships.)
“This time, unlike the other three, I was followed by a different group of doctors, who gave me many restrictions in the first months,” Kourtney told Vanity Fair Italia in a 2023 profile. “No workouts, no Pilates, no caffeine and no plane trips. Even no sex!”
She added, “I think all this caution made me a little afraid because, in the past, I never had to be so careful. It took me a while to let go of the fear.”
Kourtney further told the outlet that she felt “pushed” to try IVF after many loved ones claimed it would be the couple’s “only option” to have a baby.
“The truth is, I felt like I was doing something that wasn’t right for me,” she told Vanity Fair. “My intuition was telling me that it wasn’t suitable for me. I don’t even take medicine, [so] imagine that it was working against my body rather than for it.”
Kourtney later faced an unknown medical complication in her pregnancy, requiring emergency fetal surgery.
“Right after the surgery, I reached the point where I let myself go and I stopped worrying,” she stressed to the magazine. “Now I talk to the baby every day, have a positive mindset, keep my head straight, and say a lot of prayers. I feel really lucky and grateful. I have a lot of gratitude. Not that I didn’t have it before, but perhaps since it came easy to me, I took the pregnancy for granted.”
Kourtney gave birth to Rocky in November 2023.
