It was a Valentine’s Day to remember for moviegoers in Brisbane when their screening of Wuthering Heights turned into a star-studded event, with the stars of the show making an appearance.

Queensland-born actors Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi surprised fans at cinemas in New Farm, Red Hill and Chermside on Saturday to wish them a Happy Valentine’s Day and hand-deliver roses and candy as a special treat.

“We were really just waiting until we could get home [to Queensland],” Robbie told the room in New Farm.

“Still recovering,” one person wrote alongside a video of their visit to Palace Cinemas on James Street.

Footage also emerged of Elordi’s security getting in a scuffle with a paparazzo before heading into one of the screenings.

Elordi, who is from Brisbane, and Robbie, who hails from the Gold Coast, have been on a whirlwind press tour for their latest film, directed by Emerald Fennell.

Arriving in Sydney for the premiere on Thursday, Robbie, who also produced the film, addressed the controversy surrounding its adaptation of Emily Bronte’s book.

“I suppose you can assume that’s going to happen, particularly when you’re making a bold interpretation like [Fennell’s] version.

“There’s going to be mixed opinions for sure, but we just weather the storm and wait for people to see the movie, and they can make up their minds for themselves,” Robbie said.
