A man was in police custody on Saturday night after a mother of three, who was known to him, died in her home in Melbourne’s east on Friday.

The 30-year-old woman, who police confirmed was an Irish national, was found injured at the property on Ferntree Gully Road, Ferntree Gully, about 10am.

Emergency services were called to the house but were unable to revive the woman, identified by her family as Annmarie O’Reilly.
