NYC public school teacher arrested for allegedly striking, shoving student

A New York City public school teacher was arrested for assaulting a student inside a Brooklyn school on Monday, according to authorities and sources.

Moaz Mahmoud, 26, allegedly struck and shoved a 10-year-old student to the ground around 11 a.m. inside PS 276 on E. 83rd Street and Avenue K in Canarsie, according to the NYPD and sources.

Mahmoud was arrested roughly an hour later on assault and acting in a manner injurious to a child charges, police said.

The Department of Education did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

The Canarsie teacher was still awaiting arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court as of Monday evening.
