West Australian police are investigating after a man was found dead in Perth’s northern suburbs.
Police first attended the scene on Grampians Loop in Yanchep about 6.40pm Sunday, on a gravel track in bushland.
“Police and St John WA attended the scene. Upon arrival, a 27-year-old man was declared deceased,” a WA police spokesperson said.
“Inquiries remain ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.”
It is understood the man had an injury to his head, and the homicide squad is investigating.
Neighbours told 9 News Perth and this masthead they were alerted to a possible incident on Sunday evening after police arrived at the quiet street.
“There were some voices from about six o’clock that seemed to alert police to something and initiated everything,” one woman said.
“It was from there on that there was a heavy presence of police around … it’s just unsettling because it’s not usual for this area.”
Another neighbour said they were aware of some issues around the reserve, but it was otherwise a very ordinary street.
“It’s a beautiful area and very quiet,” he said.
“We have had a couple of things though – the other month when a woman was chased on Marmion Avenue, but that’s it really.”
Another neighbour said they were also aware of reports a man was living in bushland that bordered the reserve, but there was no suggestion he was connected to the incident.
