This isn’t Rocky Road — but it’s definitely a rocky pint.
A popular nationwide frozen dessert has been hit with an active recall over potential foreign matter contamination, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The recall impacts So Delicious Dairy Free Salted Caramel Cluster Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert pints with best-by dates on or before April 3, 2028, featuring SKU “136603” and UPC “744473476138.”
The recall was sparked by consumer complaints regarding foreign materials — including small stones and other hard objects — found within the cashew inclusions.
While details about specific consumer complaints and health issues remain unclear, anyone experiencing health concerns after eating the dessert should contact a healthcare provider immediately.
Danone US, parent company of So Delicious, announced the voluntary recall on Tuesday and has been working alongside retail partners to pull affected products from store shelves. No other So Delicious Dairy Free flavors are involved in the recall.
The affected pints were distributed to retail locations nationwide, including major chains like Target, Walmart, Meijer, and Kroger. Consumers holding affected products should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a potential refund.

Redditors who have eaten the ice cream don’t seem too concerned, though.
“I’m already ⅓ the way through the pint with no stones yet, so I think I’m safe,” joked the user. “But I’m so annoyed that it feels like everything is being recalled these days.”
“I just bought So Delicious Salted Caramel Cluster today after not buying So Delicious for years. Have eaten half the container and I don’t think I’ve encountered any stones,” wrote another.
While food recall alerts are seemingly piling up, with Cyclospora becoming a prominent concern this summer, the total number of FDA-classified food recalls is actually running below historical averages.
As of Aug. 18, the FDA had classified 860 food reports this year, roughly 15% lower than the average for the same period over the past five years.
That figure represents a 29% drop compared to the 10-year average. 99% of food recalls were initiated voluntarily by the manufacturers themselves, with the FDA ordering just 1%. Once a company voluntarily pulls a product, the FDA evaluates the potential health hazard and assigns a formal recall classification.
