Presley Gerber’s ex-girlfriend Charlotte D’Alessio is continuing to mourn the model’s untimely and heartbreaking death at age 27.
“Rest easy king,” D’Alessio, 28, wrote via Instagram on Friday, September 25, alongside several photos featuring Gerber. “Love you so much Pres. Connected for life. I’ll talk to you soon.”
The touching caption was shared alongside a slew of photos and videos of Gerber as he was in life, including a video of the pair riding a mechanical bull and the late model wakeboarding.
Us confirmed Gerber’s death on Sunday, September 20. According to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office records obtained by Us at the time, Gerber was a resident at an inpatient rehab facility at the time of his death. Us also previously confirmed that Gerber was pronounced dead at 9:45 a.m. local time by responding paramedics.
The model is survived by his parents, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, and his sister, Kaia Gerber.
The model’s body was released after a full autopsy was completed on Monday, September 21. According to online records viewed by Us, Gerber’s cause of death is still listed as “deferred,” with no timetable for when official results will be released. No foul play is suspected at the time of publication, and authorities are treating Presley’s death as a possible overdose.
“The County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner (DME) is in the early stages of investigating the death of 27-year-old model Presley Gerber and limited information is currently available,” the medical examiner’s office said in a statement to Us on Monday. “A deputy medical examiner performed an examination today and the cause and manner of death have been deferred, which means additional testing and/or studies were requested in order to make a determination. Due to the ongoing death investigation, the DME cannot disclose what testing and/or studies were requested. Deferred cases can take a few months before a cause of death is determined.”
Prior to his death, Presley was open about his mental health struggles and battles with addiction, explaining during a 2023 podcast interview why he wanted to share such intimate parts of his life story.
“Whether I help one person or a 100 people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that’s all I need to do,” Presley explained during a “Studio 22” podcast episode. “I’ve had a lot of time to look into myself and learn about myself with therapists.”
The late model’s decision to be candid about his substance abuse and mental health was a far different approach to his famous parents’ desire for privacy — but one his family, including his sister, supported and praised.
“My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything — and now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone,’” Kaia, 25, told Vogue in August 2026. “There’s only so much you can hide from the world. And trying to put a lid on something just makes the person feel like you’re ashamed of them.”
