Forget buying a lottery ticket — just grab a pack of Goldfish crackers.
Sellers on eBay are listing fused Goldfish “clusters” for thousands of dollars, with the holy grail — an “ultra rare” six-cracker clump — asking for a whopping $25,000.
“$25k for something I used to accidentally vacuum off the floor of my minivan,” Instagram user @gida.content quipped in a viral clip.
A search for “Rare Goldfish Cracker” on eBay yields around 180 listings. Optimistic sellers are listing “schools of fish” in quadruple formations for $1,500, or offering four separate pairs for $600.
Not long ago, discovering a Goldfish cluster only earned you bragging rights in the school cafeteria before you chewed it up like any other snack.
“EXCUSE ME… YOU MEAN I’VE BEEN EATING INVESTMENTS??” one stunned commenter posted on Instagram.
Listings like “Rare 4 Goldfish Cheddar Crackers Stuck Together School Of Fish” and “Ultra Rare Conjoined School of Goldfish Crackers with Outline Collectors Item” are angling for buyers eager to collect the deformed treats.
It’s not just clusters hitting the market, either. Sellers are offering packaging errors with messed-up bags and “deformed Goldfish” for $500 a pop — including one listed as an “ultra rare one of a kind purple/red goldfish cracker factory error.”
Are fused fish really the next investment, or is the internet just trolling? Opinions are split.
Some Instagram users are already discussing heading to the store for Goldfish and a hot glue gun for a payout.
One teacher wrote, “Making note to tell students they can trade in stuck goldfish for a starburst. This could supplement my income.”
Others are convinced they’ve eaten away a fortune over the years because the fused ones were always their “favorite ones to eat.”
Skeptics are saying that astronomical listings don’t mean sales, floating theories like a viral marketing scheme or an attention grab. One Instagrammer claimed he submitted a $1 counteroffer on a $12,000 listing — and it was immediately accepted.
“If you check out the sold listings, not a single one has ever sold. I could list my dryer lint for $36,000 on eBay. It doesn’t mean it’s worth that,” another user pointed out.
Others joked that the trend is a sign of the economic times, with one user teasing he plans to make a living gluing Goldfish together amid tight job markets.

Goldfish aren’t the only crunchy snacks turning into cash crops — another commenter highlighted the thriving side hustle for oddly shaped Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, noting a friend made hundreds selling unique pieces. As they put it: “People will buy anything.”
