Rosewood opens new wellness retreat on the Red Sea

It’s been a busy summer season so far, and if you’re the kind of traveller that likes to jam-pack your itinerary, you might just be in need of another holiday of the more relaxing kind.

Enter: Rosewood AMAALA.

The newly-opened resort on the Red Sea is part of the Triple Bay development in Saudi Arabia, which is all about wellness.

Every guest at the 110-key property has access to their own private pool as well as a number of shared resort pools, plus two natural rock pools set along the coast.

Designed by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel (ACPV), the resort takes its cue from the natural beauty of the Red Sea and the mountains of nearby Tabuk, and is meant to merge the landscape.

It is the third property to open in the development, alongside the Six Senses and the Four Seasons.

“Rosewood AMAALA strengthens the destination’s position as a world-class wellness destination by bringing together Rosewood’s distinctive approach to luxury hospitality with personalized wellbeing experiences,” John Pagano, group CEO of Red Sea Global, which owns the AMAALA development, said.

“Together with our growing collection of wellness operators and hospitality partners, the resort expands the range of experiences available to guests seeking restorative, meaningful and immersive stays along the Red Sea coast.”

What to expect at Rosewood AMAALA

The property’s 110 keys include pavilions, which are aimed at families, suites, which are more of an intimate retreat for couples, and villas, which include full kitchens, outdoor barbecue areas and a dedicated butler service.

You can choose between sea view rooms, or sea front, with the latter being positioned directly on the shoreline.

We already said the resort is all about wellness, and the Asaya Spa spans some 2,100 square metres with six treatment rooms, a double treatment suites, a private hammam, separate men’s and women’s wet areas, and two gyms, as well as the Social House, a private day spa for groups.

You can book in for facials and massages, and there is a daily programme featuring everything from aerial yoga and breathwork to ecology walks.

Wellness extends to the food offering, too. Much has been written about the benefits of the Mediterranean diet, and at Olea, you can try dishes inspired by Italy, Spain and Greece, with olive oil being a key ingredient throughout.

At Saha, you can share Middle Eastern plates, while The Grill Bar & Restaurant sees meat, local seafood and vegetables cooked over wood and charcoal.

Beachside Puro Cove Club serves ceviches and crudos, while those lounging next to the pool can dine at either the Pool Lounge or Pool Bar.

Asaya Lounge offers light bites and botanical beverages, while Wadi Library is the place to grab Arabic coffee and sweet treats while browsing the hotel’s collection or while playing games.

Should you want to make your stay permanent, there are also 26 branded residences, ranging from three- to five-bedroom villas at Rosewood Residences AMAALA.
