Commuters who travel by ferry will be hit by further disruptions during peak hour on Friday, with a second round of industrial action confirmed.
A two-hour work stoppage is planned between 8am and 10am on August 7, Brisbane City Council said on Tuesday afternoon.
No ferry services will operate during that time.
It comes a week after the last strike, with CityCats out of action for two hours on July 31.
The Maritime Union of Australia has been negotiating with the boats’ operator, RiverCity Ferries, over workers’ pay and conditions.
Labor councillor Lucy Collier had earlier on Tuesday moved a motion calling for Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner to intervene in the dispute to give workers better pay, which the LNP council voted down.
The lord mayor had said earlier in the day he hoped industrial action could be avoided.
“We know the importance of our ferry network,” he said.
“We’re closely watching this to make sure there’s the right outcome here, and that we can get those ferries into service carrying the people of Brisbane around, up and down the river.”
