The Wolseley to open flagship hotel in Manhattan

London restaurant The Wolseley has more than earned its British institution status over the past 20 years, with tourists (and residents) flocking there in their droves.

Found within a Grade II* listed building on Piccadilly, the grand cafe is known for its stunning Art Deco interiors, with high ceilings, marble columns and Viennese flair.

Now, the brand is making a move into hotels with the launch of a flagship property in New York City in early 2027.

Located in midtown Manhattan, The Wolseley Hotel New York will occupy a similarly historic building to its namesake.

Originally built as a clubhouse for The Lambs Club, a social club for those in show business and supporters of the arts, the property on 130 West 44th Street dates back to 1905.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Lambs Club Building reopened as a hotel, The Chatwal New York, in 2010.

“Inspired by the enduring success of The Wolseley in London, our vision is to create hotels anchored in culinary excellence, architectural character, and a genuine sense of occasion, Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International which owns the hotel, said.

“The Wolseley Hotel New York establishes our first flagship and sets the standard for the brand’s global expansion.”

Inside The Wolseley Hotel New York

Once renovations are complete, The Wolseley Hotel New York will feature 76 guest rooms and suites.

Naturally, a highlight of the hotel will be the first US outpost of The Wolseley. While the restaurant is open all day, it’s perhaps best known for its breakfast offering, which covers everything from pastries and porridge to a full English fry-up.

The hotel will also have an intimate speakeasy bar in its cellar.

Part of Minor Hotels, there are plans to open other properties under The Wolseley Hotels brand in the near future.

According to Skift, the brand is considering Dubai in the United Arab Emirates for its second location.
