When circuit training isn’t enough

“Did the World Humanoid Robot Games (C8) have both male and female competitors?” asks Peter Miniutti of Ashbury. “If so, how did they test for testosterone levels to determine if a robot was a fender bender or gender bender?”

Peter Craig of Dulwich Hill definitely remembers The Decline Wine Bar (C8), “as a patron and an employee. Loud music, mugs of cider and the barbecue out the back where you cooked your own meat. My future wife worked behind the bar. I picked up glasses and occasionally did a stint as bouncer/doorman, though I never had to flex my muscles. My favourite customers were Lenny and Martin, bikies who parked their Harleys at the front door and sat at the bar all night, sipping Blackberry Nip.”

When we read Graeme Finn of Campsie’s subject line, “Alcohol Rules”, we thought he was a tad irresponsible. Then we read his item and, yeah, he is: “When I was a member of a surf club they didn’t have a licence to sell alcohol, so they sold raffle tickets where every ticket won a beer.”

Granny admits to being more than a little dismissive of Marjie Williamson’s query regarding the opening of tablets (C8), but the responses have been popping off. Lance Rainey of South Grafton is right-handed “and, if they are pop-out tablets, I always start at top left, then across and so on, just like reading a Roman book. But if they are the tear-off type; then it is from the top right as I hold with the left and rip with the right hand. Never thought about it before, but any other approach would seem strange.”

Mickey Pragnell of Kiama says, “Mrs Mickey and I are both lefties who always start at the top right.” However, Tony Denzel of Bonny Hills thinks that “for left-handers it should only be done on the top left. Such a move is natural and should be compulsory for us exclusive members.”

Another lefty, Linda Eaton of Denman, was “prompted to check my medication sheets this morning. Lo and behold, all three sheets were removed from the top left-hand corner. It is the important life lessons we are learning over breakfast with other Column 8 readers!”

“Calling smart glasses ‘Specs offenders’ or ‘Pervert glasses’ is nowhere near as good as Google’s first effort,” reckons George Zivkovic of Northmead. “Wearers of Google Glasses were apparently labelled ‘Glassholes’.”
