An Upgrade I Never Expected

The Quntis Light Bar Glow brings comfortable illumination to my workspace without adding screen glare, an upgrade I didn’t know my home office needed.

I thought the multi-directional ceiling light shining onto my U-shaped, three-computer workstation was an ideal arrangement. The Quntis light bar convinced me that bright overhead lighting is not always the best choice for either ambiance or productivity.

This LED (light-emitting diode) light bar uses a textured light-diffusing cover and hood to direct illumination toward the desk while minimizing light on the screen and in my eyes. It has reduced the discomfort I experience during long hours staring at monitors and adjusting screen brightness.

The integrated front and rear lighting has largely eliminated my need for other desk lighting during the day. For nighttime work sessions, I can use softer, more subdued illumination without flooding my workspace with harsh overhead light.

I can control three lighting modes using a palm-sized wireless puck that adjusts brightness and color temperature. The lamp combines front and rear light sources to illuminate the desktop while adding ambient light behind the monitor.

The control puck lets me switch among Work Mode for focused desk illumination, Immersive Mode for softer ambient lighting, and Design Mode for more balanced illumination across the workspace.

The Glow bar’s compact design is well suited to small desks, dorm rooms, and shared living spaces where desk space is limited and a traditional lamp would take up valuable room.

It can also reduce the need for multiple light sources when studying or doing research. The adjustable front lighting illuminates materials on the desk, while the rear light provides ambient illumination behind the monitor.

Hassle-Free Setup, No Installation Needed

I did not expect the 16.7-inch light bar to fit my dual-monitor setup so easily. It balances nicely on my 14- and 16-inch laptop screens. But I thought using it across my nearly 60-inch-wide dual-monitor setup would be a stretch too far.

I centered the light bar across the top where the two monitors meet. My monitors are angled slightly, with their outer edges pitched forward. An adjustable rear support and counterweight keep the light bar balanced in place.

The light bar sits securely on either a single monitor or, in my case, across two monitors without requiring a clamp. The included USB cable has a Type-C connector that plugs into the back of the light bar and a Type-A connector that plugs into a computer or other USB power source.

I particularly like the separate wireless controller. Many light bars put touch controls on the bar itself, so reaching up to make an adjustment can knock the lamp out of alignment. The Quntis controller sits on the desk, letting me make changes without touching the light bar.

The control puck controls power, brightness, and color temperature. I can select warm 3000K lighting for evening work or cooler 6500K daylight tones for daytime use by tapping the illuminated controls on the wireless controller.

The Quntis Glow series occupies the middle ground between basic monitor light bars and more expensive premium models such as the BenQ ScreenBar line. Quntis offers numerous models for flat and curved monitors, including options designed for single- and multi-monitor setups.

What distinguishes the Glow series from basic downward-facing light bars is its integrated backlight. The front and rear lighting illuminates the desk while adding ambient light behind the monitor, reducing the stark contrast between a bright screen and dark surroundings.

The wireless desktop controller, powered by three AA batteries, is another major advantage, allowing me to change brightness, color temperature, and lighting modes without touching the bar. The light also has a color rendering index (CRI) of Ra 95, which should appeal to users doing color-sensitive work.

Quntis offers Glow models ranging from 41 cm / 16.1 inches to 66 cm / 26 inches for different monitor sizes and configurations. However, my experience suggests that the 16.7-inch model can work well even with a much larger monitor setup.
