Bed Bath & Beyond makes surprise return to New York and New Jersey— here’s where stores will be opening

Just in time for spring cleaning, the home goods store Bed Bath & Beyond is making a comeback.

While the 1971-founded, New Jersey-originated chain filed for bankruptcy back in 2023, it will now return to 98 brick-and-mortar stores nationwide, 10 of them in both New York and New Jersey, integrating its products into participating The Container Store locations.

The two retailers will join forces for a fresh “The Container Store + Bed Bath & Beyond” store format, according to News 12 New Jersey.

The Container Store (based in Texas) shared that its “Store Changing” chainwide event began on April 24, which will involve liquidating approximately 30% of select merchandise categories and stock-keeping merch to create space for new items expected to come later in the year.

Jen Pape, the senior vice president of stores at The Container Store, shared in a company statement that this is “a reset with a purpose.”

“We are actively reshaping our stores to make room for what’s next,” Pape said in the statement, obtained by the Hudson Valley Post. “By streamlining select categories today, we’re creating the space and flexibility needed to introduce Bed Bath & Beyond products and deliver a more complete home experience for our customers.”

“This transaction will fill critical gaps in both our retail and home services strategy,” said Bed Bath & Beyond CEO and Executive Chairman Lemonis in a statement obtained by Retail Dive when the partnership was initially announced. “As we build our company platform, any additional assets including talent must serve a clear purpose to our company’s long-term strategy.”

The stores will open across the country in phases throughout the rest of the year. Below are the NY and NJ locations for the “The Container Store + Bed Bath and Beyond” stores.
