Blue Ivy breaks Met Gala age barrier as the youngest attendee in nearly a decade

Color me impressed.

Blue Ivy Carter, 14, has made Met Gala history as the youngest A-list guest to attend the adults-only invite event in nearly a decade — but hey, when you’re Beyoncé’s kid, trailblazing is in your blood.

Breaking the bash’s long-standing mandate that all attendees must be age 18 and older, the Gen Z daughter of Queen Bey, 44, and rapper Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, 56, is — evidently — the exception to the rule.

On Monday night, the stylish teen turned heads in an all-white ensemble with an ethereal glow, accessorized with a pair of cool-girl sunglasses. The high-low cut bubble gown and matching jacket draped down the museum’s steps as she, alongside her megastar mama, co-chair of the night’s revelry, dressed to the theme’s “Fashion is Art” motif.

The swanky celebration is in honor of The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s spring 2026 exhibition, “Costume Art,” opening Sunday, May 10.

Prior to Blue Ivy’s Met Gala debut, underage hotshots, like Maddie Ziegler, openly bemoaned being persona non grata at the glamorous fête. Ahead of the 2018 Met Gala, the “Dance Moms” alum, then 16-years-old, told The Hollywood Reporter that she “can’t go because I’m not old enough” at the time.

Event organizers confirmed the gala’s age restrictions to the outlet, saying, “it’s not an appropriate event for people under 18.”

Before the age restriction was put into place, Elle Fanning attended the annual fundraiser back in 2011 at only 13-years-old, the same year a young Hailee Steinfeld made her debut at only 14, while siblings Willow and Jaden Smith attended the 2016 Met at 15 and 17-years-old.
