Breastfeeding mom admits to smoking meth days before her infant died: court docs

A breastfeeding Wisconsin mother admitted to smoking meth days before her 3-week-old baby boy died, according to a criminal complaint.

Jessie Lee Kittelson, 23, was arrested after Pierce County cops arrived at her home in Trimbelle on March 14, and found that her newborn had no pulse, wasn’t breathing and turned blue, KWQC reported, citing the court documents.

Paramedics at the scene attempted CPR on the baby, but he was declared dead, according to the complaint.

The infant’s cause of death was later determined to be methamphetamine toxicity, according to authorities.

Kittelson later allegedly admitted to cops that she’d been using meth throughout her pregnancy with her son – and had ingested the drug just three days before his death, according to law enforcement.

And Kittleson’s partner, Taylor Jae Olson, 26, allegedly admitted to law enforcement that he’d gone out and gotten meth for the two, police said.

The mom also told cops that she breastfed her son, and “pumped and dumped” her milk in the days after she’d used meth before breastfeeding him again, the complaint states.

She also allegedly looked up on Google how long meth stays in breast milk, investigators said.

Kittleson was confused about how her son was exposed to meth and was unsure what she did wrong, according to the complaint.

Both Kittleson and Olson are charged with first-degree reckless homicide and chronic neglect of a child – charges that could see them both facing up to 60 years in prison, according to the complaint.

It was unclear if the two had an attorney. They are scheduled to appear in Pierce County court on Sept. 2.
