California homeowners’ ingenious hack beats Google Maps every time as drone footage goes viral

Fed up with bumbling delivery drivers and Google Maps fails, one California homeowner took matters into the sky.

A Central California man has gone viral after using a fleet of drones to literally spell out directions above his property — guiding lost drivers straight to his front door.

Tom BetGeorge, who lives in the rural community of Linden, California turned to the high-tech solution after drivers repeatedly pulled into the wrong driveway despite multiple attempts to fix the issue.

“We even have a sign on our street signaling toward our driveway. Nothing worked, so we figured this might help,” BetGeorge told Storyful.

Drone footage shows the glowing aerial display kicking into action as a driver nears the wrong turn, flashing: “Wrong driveway — back up.”

Moments later, as the car maneuvers, the message shifts to encouragement — “There you go — keep going” — before a bright arrow appears in the sky, pointing directly toward the correct home.

The over-the-top fix appears to work flawlessly — and has left viewers both impressed and amused.

“Telling you have money without telling you have money,” one commenter wrote.

“Could have used the money to build a better driveway path,” another joked.

BetGeorge, as it turns out, is no amateur. He runs Magical Light Shows, a company that specializes in elaborate drone and lighting displays, according to its website.

He uses his social media pages — which showcases tens of different displays — to describe himself as someone who “paints with lights” and that he, in fact, does “this for a living.”

In any case, when Google Maps gets it wrong, BetGeorge just writes directions himself — in the sky.
