Queensland Premier David Crisafulli says the state is getting ready for the force of Cyclone Narelle, which is expected to hit the Far North Queensland coast as early as Thursday night.
“We’ve pre-positioned swift water rescue crews, we’ve got health staff on the ground, we’ve got police and firies,” he said, speaking to Nine’s Today program this morning.
“We are genuinely taking it seriously.”
Crisafulli said it had been a challenging disaster season for the state, and urged people in the cyclone’s expected path to use today to clean their yard and check on their neighbours.
“But we’ve got through it before and I know that we will get through this as well,” he said.
