Daniel Toutounji, a senior member of the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang, has been arrested on drug supply and proceeds of crime offences more than eight years after leaving Australia.
Officers from NSW Police’s anti-bikie Raptor Squad and the Australian Border Force swooped on Toutounji at Sydney Airport on Friday morning. He has been wanted since 2018, when police allegedly found cocaine and several firearms during a search of his Sydney home.
The 37-year-old left Australia around the same time and is believed to have been living between Eastern Europe and the Middle East since. At the time, Toutounji was alleged to be a senior member of the Comanchero’s sprawling network. His current role within the gang is unclear, as is why he returned to Australia.
Toutounji is one of several Comanchero members who left Australia in the past decade amid increased police scrutiny on the powerful gang, which has long been a major player in the country’s illicit drug trade.
