Demi Lovato Returns to the Scene of Her Frozen Yogurt Controversy

Demi Lovato is warming up to The Bigg Chill.

The singer, 32, took to social media on Wednesday, July 30, and shared clips of herself returning to the Los Angeles yogurt shop four years after she complained about its low-calorie menu.

In one TikTok clip, Lovato looks at the camera and lip-syncs to her viral video from April 2021, when she’d lamented: “I left that yogurt store and didn’t get the yogurt that I wanted.”

The clip cuts to her dancing while eating a swirled frozen treat. A second video shows a smiley Lovato twirling around in The Bigg Chill. She added text over the footage that read “‘You look happier!’ thanks i finally got the yogurt that i wanted!”

She captioned that post, “you make me happy @The Bigg Chill,” adding three ice cream emojis.

Three years prior, Lovato was singing a different tune regarding the eatery, which opened in 1986 and has created more than “400 distinctive flavors using live cultures and natural ingredients.” According to its website, daily offerings include “no-sugar-added, Carbolite, fat free, and dairy free varieties, along with an assortment of fresh, low fat baked goods.”

In the spring of 2021, Lovato posted a complaint via her Instagram Story, calling out the company after “finding it extremely hard to order froyo” because of the “diet foods” they offer. Lovato also called them “diet culture vultures.”

The Bigg Chill responded to Lovato’s accusations and explained that they carry items for all types of dietary restrictions, including diabetes, celiac disease and vegans, in addition to more indulgent treats. “We are sorry you found this offensive,” they stated.

Lovato, who has battled an eating disorder, then resumed her critique, dubbing the store “triggering and awful” and suggesting improvements for labeling diabetic and vegan foods.

The “Sorry Not Singer” singer later apologized and remarked via Instagram, “I want to make L.A. and this whole country a safer — and this whole f***ing world — a safer environment. People with eating disorders should be able to go in and feel safe wherever they want to eat. Everything I’m doing is well-intentioned, you have to understand.”

She added: “It’s really important that everyone hears that my intentions were not to come in and bully a small business … I walked in and was so triggered that I left without froyo and it made me really sad. And that’s all it was.”
