Disney Cruise Line brings back NYC port offerings — with destinations from Canada to the Caribbean

All aboard!

Disney Cruise Line announced this week that it will be returning to New York City for the first time in three years.

The Mouse House’s Disney Wish ship will arrive in port in NYC in late September after closing out its inaugural European season.

“Disney Cruise Line is proud to be a leader in family cruising, helping our guests create lasting memories in even more destinations,” said Tracy Wilson, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line Operations, in a press release.

“We are delighted to return to a guest-favorite port in New York.”

Per the release, the Disney Wish will offer New York passengers seven sailing routes that range from four to seven nights, “bringing guests from ‘the city that never sleeps’ to the vacation of their dreams.”

During five of these sailings, the Wish will make landfall on the fabled pink sand beaches of Bermuda.

For those who prefer to venture north to see the Atlantic in its full autumnal glory, the Wish will sail through New England and Canada with stops in Boston, Massachusetts, St. John, New Brunswick, and Halifax, Nova Scotia, “offering families a spectacular way to experience the brilliant colors of the season along New England and Canada’s iconic coastlines.”

The Disney Wish will also set sail from NYC to San Juan, Puerto Rico, on a five-night voyage with a stop in Bermuda.

The Wish will then make its way across the Caribbean on a seven-night cruise with stops in Aruba, St. Maarten, Bonaire, and Dominica before repositioning to its home port of Port Canaveral, Florida.

From Port Canaveral, The Wish will take travelers on three-and-four-night Bahamian cruises through the winter season.

In response to an Instagram post revealing the new NYC routes, fans and detractors eagerly shared their thoughts.

“NYC! I need more details so I can plan the second baby,” announced one stoked mother.

“The NYC kids are waiting!!” said a second commenter.

“Please add more than just 7 sailings from NYC!!!! We need more,” cried a third.

Meanwhile, a legion of critics voiced their frustration over Disney’s alleged use of AI to create the cruise ship announcement.

“This graphic looks like it was made with AI,” said one accuser.

“If that is the case, I’m very disappointed in the team that authorized this. Disney has some of the best designers in the business, so I ask you to please use them to create original content. Using AI in design and marketing clearly indicates that the company doesn’t value its team, creative work, or the planet’s resources.

Earlier this summer, Disney Cruise Lines made minor waves when it updated its decoration policy after the time-honored tradition of decorating cabin doors had “gotten out of hand,” with streamers, photos, and signs routinely extending into the hallway and onto the ceilings.

“You are welcome to personalize your stateroom door with a tasteful magnetic sign for a celebration — or simply to add a touch of fun!” the cruise line says on the “frequently asked questions” portion of its website.

However, “decorations should only be placed on doors and are not permitted on corridor walls or ceilings,” the website says.

In May, Disney Cruise Line came under fire when cruisers aboard the all-new Disney Adventure learned their four-night sailing embarking from Singapore was canceled — mere hours after they boarded the ship.
