A shocking video captured the moment a train crashed into a truck carrying a septic tank – sending sewage spewing onto a Virginia road and leaving the driver with life-threatening injuries.
The man behind the wheel was critically injured after he allegedly blew a stop sign and drove onto train tracks Thursday in Chesapeake, according to preliminary findings shared by police.
As the ill-fated truck carrying a massive silver septic tank traveled over the tracks around 4 p.m., it was T-boned by the oncoming locomotive, as seen in the video.
The truck spun out of control and knocked over a tree as murky-colored sewage spewed into the air.
When the destroyed vehicle finally landed on the side of the road, the foul-smelling, toxic liquid continued spilling into the street.
“Holy s–t! Holy f–k!” the man who captured the harrowing footage, Azuriah O’Daniel, screamed in terror. “Oh my God, what the f–k?”
First responders rushed to the scene and took the male driver to the hospital. He was in stable condition as of Friday, WAVY reported.
Authorities have not released any further information about his identity.
Police said the dramatic incident triggered a “minor hazmat situation,” but there was no immediate threat to the public.
No one onboard the train was injured, according to Norfolk Southern.
The crash is under investigation and the Chesapeake Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
