Investigators believe Nancy Guthrie’s abduction could have been a botched robbery: report

Investigators believe that Nancy Guthrie’s abduction could have been the result of a botched robbery instead of a planned kidnapping, according to a report.

An inside source in the investigation told AZFamily that the 84-year-old’s kidnapping appeared to be a burglary gone wrong.

The unnamed source also told the outlet that there is a widespread belief among investigators that Nancy could still be alive.

The development comes as the investigation into Nancy’s disappearance stretches into its 15th day, with her famous daughter Savannah Guthrie releasing a video to Instagram pleading with her mother’s kidnapper to “do the right thing” and come forward.

Cops are also awaiting DNA evidence results from a Range Rover SUV that was towed from a Culver’s parking lot two miles from Guthrie’s home as authorities detained its driver for questioning, the source told the outlet.

The person was taken in for questioning, but released after an interview, sources previously told The Post.

The development comes as the investigation into Nancy’s disappearance stretches into its 15th day, with her famous daughter Savannah Guthrie releasing a video to Instagram pleading with her mother’s kidnapper to “do the right thing” and come forward.

“I wanted to come on …  it’s been two weeks since our mom was taken and …  I just wanted to come on and say that we still have hope and we still believe,” Savannah said in an Instagram video late Sunday.

And I wanted to say that to whoever has her or knows where she is, that it’s never too late. And you’re not lost or alone, and it is never too late to do the right thing,” the “Today” show anchor continued, pausing several times as she spoke to the camera with visible tears in her eyes.

“And we are here, and we believe in the essential goodness of every human being, and it’s never too late.”

The FBI also revealed it has collected DNA from a glove that may have come from the armed suspect seen in doorbell camera footage on the night the 84-year-old disappeared.

Residents should expect “a lot of police activity” every day as the investigation continues, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said Saturday.
