Katie Porter is roasted for bizarre Bad Bunny Super Bowl comments

Embattled California gubernatorial candidate Katie Porter made a bizarre entry into Super Bowl weekend by taking a shot at immigrant enforcement agents.

In her latest attempt to generate publicity for her gubernatorial campaign, the former Congresswoman flamed Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers – while celebrating Latin rap superstar Bad Bunny’s upcoming halftime appearance.

“A Super Bowl PSA: In California, our immigrant neighbors (and all Bad Bunny fans) are welcome,” Porter wrote on X Saturday.

A Super Bowl PSA: In California, our immigrant neighbors (and all Bad Bunny fans) are welcome. Armed, untrained federal agents harassing, kidnapping, and hurting innocent people are not.

We need ICE out of California, we need accountability, and we need to abolish ICE.

“Armed, untrained federal agents harassing, kidnapping, and hurting innocent people are not.”

“We need ICE out of California, we need accountability, and we need to abolish ICE,” she added.

Her posts on X were met with vitriol from both Democrats and Republicans.

”As a Californian, you don’t speak for me,” one said. ”I welcome ICE and CBP working to rid my state of illegal aliens…just like every other country in the world that enforce their borders.”

Another said: ”Please stop acting like you care about anyone but your own self interests and bank account.”

Despite Porter’s post about ICE not being welcome at the Super Bowl, on Tuesday, the NFL chief security officer Cathy Lanier, told members of the press that ICE agents will not be present at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on Sunday.

“There are no planned ICE enforcement activities. We are confident of that,” Lanier said.

The progressive former rep’s bid for the highest office in the state has been in trouble since videos surfaced last fall of her in an unflattering light, blasting members of her staff and falling apart in a TV interview about how she planned to shore up support for her run.

The California Post revealed Porter sent a desperate text to supporters the day after Matt Mahan’s entry into the governor’s race, warning of dire consequences if they don’t shore up her fading bid.

“We lose the Governorship in California, we lose the U.S. House of Representatives. It’s that simple,” Porter wrote in a dramatic fundraising text to supporters hours after San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan announced his bid for the same seat.

The progressive former rep explained that California’s nonpartisan “jungle primary” in June could allow two Republicans to advance to the general election.

Porter wasn’t the only Democrat trying to score points with the anti-ICE and fans of the Puerto Rican superstar crowd.

AS MANY PEOPLE KNOW, I AM A TREMENDOUS LOVER OF “THE SPANISH.” IT IS A BEAUTIFUL LANGUAGE SPOKEN BY MANY BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE IN THE GREAT STATE OF CALIFORNIA AND ACROSS THE WORLD. I AM ALSO A HUGE FAN OF PUERRRRRRRTO RICO. THAT IS WHY I AM DECLARING TOMORROW IN CALIFORNIA AS “BAD…

— Governor Newsom Press Office (@GovPressOffice) February 7, 2026

On Saturday, California Governor Gavin Newsom trolled President Donald Trump over Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show in the Bay area, declaring Sunday “Bad Bunny Day” in the Golden state.

Channeling Trump‘s all-caps posting style, Newsom’s press office took to X to gush over the Grammy winner’s looks and talent.

“As many people know, I am a tremendous lover of ‘The Spanish.’ It is a beautiful language spoken by many beautiful people in the great state of California and across the world,” the post read.

“I am also a huge fan of Puerrrrrrrto Rico. That is what I am declaring tomorrow in California as’Bad Bunny Day’ when Bad Bunny performs at the big game in the Golden state with his soothing, beautiful voice, and his very nice looks.”
