Lindsay Clancy Holdout Juror Felt She Was Guilty ‘From Day 1,’ Denies Having Reasonable Doubt

The one holdout juror who felt Lindsay Clancy should be held criminally responsible for her children’s deaths denied a fellow juror’s claim that he had reasonable doubt before the case ended with a mistrial.

Ray Marcel, who hosts the true crime streaming series “Fugitive TV,” shared that he interviewed the juror, identified only as Michael, in a Tuesday, September 15, video partly titled “He Told Me Everything.”

While recalling their conversation, Marcel told Chris Cuomo on NewsNation on Wednesday, September 16, that Michael never wavered in believing that Clancy was guilty.

“He felt that she was sane when she did it,” Marcel said. “He said, from day one, that he always felt that she was guilty, and he never displayed or said anything about reasonable doubt.”

This comes after another juror, who served as the jury’s foreperson, said in an interview with NBC 10 Boston that the holdout juror had expressed reasonable doubt during the trial.

The woman, Roni Carlson, told the outlet, “He admitted he had reasonable doubt” and added that when she heard this, she became “so excited.”

However, Carlson recalled that he also said, “But I’m still not going to say that she’s not guilty by reason of insanity.”

While only wanting to be identified by his first name, Michael’s full name was shared with The Boston Globe by another juror. The newspaper reportedly confirmed his identity through further verification and noted he had faced a domestic violence charge years earlier.

Michael also reportedly had a restraining order against him in connection with an alleged assault on his nephew.

Another Clancy juror, Paula Devlin, told The Boston Globe that Michael should’ve been disqualified from hearing the Clancy case due to his alleged violent history.

Though the newspaper couldn’t reach Michael for comment, his brother, Michel Desronvil, told the newspaper that Michael was eligible to be a juror and that he was unaware his brother had been accused of assault.

“He’s never been violent to me,” Michel said. “My view is that if they put him on the jury then he must be qualified to be there.”

Massachusetts Judge William Sullivan ultimately declared a mistrial in the Clancy case on the deadlocked 11-1 jury on September 4 in connection with the January 2023 killings of Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months.

Sullivan has ordered that the names of jurors be withheld from the public for an indefinite amount of time, following a previous impoundment order that stated they would be concealed until at least September 18, per NBC 10 Boston.

While Clancy, 36, never denied killing her kids, her lawyer argued that she had been suffering from severe postpartum depression and bipolar disorder.
