The devastated great-grandma of missing teenager Sophia Cover has issued a desperate plea for her grandchild to return home.
“Sophia! This is grandma,” she said in a video posted to Facebook by the missing girl’s heartbroken father.
“I love you. I love you. I love you. It’s time you come home! I want to see you again! I’m waiting for you, Sophia. I love you. I love you. I love you!”
That’s the impassioned Facebook plea of the desperate great-grandma to missing granddaughter Sophia Cover, a 16-year-old who went missing from her Florida home on July 31 without explanation.
Surveillance footage showed Cover, 16, walking out of her Florida home around 12:45 a.m. in Golden Gate Estates, about 40 miles south of Fort Myers.
Anguished father Richard Cover has begun a search effort for the girl, both online and in the community, hoping for clues into her mysterious disappearance.
“Everybody is looking for you. And, if you’re out there on your own, it’s really easy to come home. You can go to any police officer. You can go to any adult that is safe,” he said.
Authorities describe Sophia as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 115 pounds, with brown eyes and long brown hair.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Collier County Sheriff’s Office at 239-252-9300.
